Hey guys... I actually posted the other day but here
Is my official intro.

I'm in SW Missouri and I've been messing around with old cars in garages that are WAY too small for long enough! I'm 40 years old and I'm not waiting any longer!

A 30X50 is in my near future by the end of the summer. I want to make the most use out of the space possible so I'll likely be asking all sorts of questions. Right now I'm debating between post gram construction and stick framed walls.

Looking forward to it!!!

Terry: it looks like you joined last year and maybe have been reading a few garage builds? i do like stick built on cement walls a foot or two off the ground, but the prices i hear to build a pole building almost have me convinced to built one of them in a few years when i move out of the city.

do you have any specific questions? if you have a question about the advantages or why a member built one style over another might i suggest you ask those questions on threads where the builder/member has a thread going?

good luck

Hello and welcome from Ohio! Well, I went with a pole barn type foundation and stick built walls.used 4x6" and 6x6" posts 48" deep on a concrete base. The posts come out of the ground 12"....16". They are capped and sandwiched with 2x10s and or 2x12". One on the inside, one on the outside, and one on top that forms a type of sill plate. Then the 2x6" studed wall sets atop of this in typical construction. Good luck!
