Yes. Hand clearance next to other things. Such as some other protruding part. Also you can put two , one angled one straight right next to each other on a large nut or next to a pipe wrench etc. and have space to grip the handles better.

Seems backwards to me. That orientation gives your knuckles room when tightening clockwise, but is worse when turning counter-clockwise.
