I live in Phoenix. Doubt I'll ever see a bolt that looks like that. Now Eric at South Main Auto would probably stand in line to buy these.

I'm near by, but I'm still going to buy them. Rust or not.
I've become a Knipex fan, I've got 7 or 8 of their pliers now.

I'm already sold and have an open spot on my pliers rack waiting to be filled by these. No idea if I will ever use from their intended purpose, but I'm still going to buy them. Hopefully they will be on the market soon enough.

Chad's Toolbox sent out an email for twin grip pre orders today with a July ship date. $37.65 for the standard red grips and $42.59 for the comfort grip version plus shipping.

It looks great. But I have a moral aversion to using pliers on a fastener. It was drummed into me as a young tyke. We lived in a nearly all Catholic neighborhood, but I don't recall if it was a mortal sin or not, but it is WRONG.

Well in all fairness, these are meant to be used on an already damaged fastener. Not something you plan to re-use, rather something that needs to be removed so it can be thrown directly into the trash.

Id like to have them, but dont have a pressing need, so no rush here.
Probably gonna wait and see where Amazons pricing comes in.

I laughed way too hard at that last bit of your post

It looks like they put a lot of thought into the jaws for working on damaged fasteners. It seems nicely designed for that purpose but I'm not sure that I would use them for anything else because the front jaws aren't uniform. If you were grabbing a cotter pin for example, it would slip out from the center so you'd need to grab from the sides on the front. That would annoy me. I've never owned removal pliers. I don't have the Engineer brand removal pliers either so maybe I just don't know what I've been missing. I want one but I'm not sure how much it will be used.

It is what I expected. But as I mentioned previously I'd like the pliers to have cross hatched teeth up front (like the Channellock 548 or the Snap-On Talon Grip). If I recall correctly, the Knipex Linesman has some nice cross hatched teeth. Maybe they could do something similar up front on another version of the TwinGrip. For general use, cross hatched teeth are far superior to parallel teeth since they work in multiple directions. That would be much more useful to me. And I agree with @KnurledNut that they would do well to make another version this way. I think that one would get used a lot more by most.

FYI, the 10% off coupons from KCTool do apply to the pre order
The 5% new customer/email sign up for Chad's Tool Box applied to the preorder for me. Slightly cheaper from them too & no sales tax.

(I had to use another email to get the coupon though. I've never purchased from them before through their website but I have purchased something from them through ebay. Since my email was in their database it wouldn't email me the coupon to my normal email).

I have the nejisaurus (same manufacturer as Vampliers from all I can tell) and the only complaint I have about them is that when I bought them they didn't come with the little keeper cap to keep them closed. If someone had an STL file for that little cap I'd love a copy to try on the printer.

I agree a crosshatched pair without the screw removal tips would totally fit in my tool box, but alas I may still make room for these (provided the price is acceptable in Canada) and relegate the nejis to my small belt pouch.

Most sellers from Japan (ebay & Amazon) include the cap but sellers in the US usually don't include the cap.

They $5 right now on Amazon Prime US. Sometimes the price the is stupid high like $15.

Amazon has these listed for preorder now.
It looks like the only seller at the moment is ChadsToolbox (Uberlegen).
$47.24 shipped.
Item expected to be released July 9th.

Thanks for the heads up but really no reason to go through Amazon since the preorder is through a 3rd party seller. Well unless you have rewards or gift card funds. Cheaper to go direct.

I preordered directly through Chad's Tool Box & this is what I paid:

Subtotal: $37.65 USD
Coupon Code (): -$1.88 USD
Shipping: $7.99 USD
Grand Total: $43.76 USD

BTW, CTB doesn't charge tax so there will be tax added going through Amazon. Price is just about the same as CTB going through KC Tool with their 10% discount.

$36.13 from KC tool after 10% off coupon if your total is $75 or more to get the free shipping. If you just bought the pliers and don't get free shipping it's $43.50 after the 10% off.

Just poppin' in to leave a quick update: A small batch of the Twin Grips did arrive at our warehouse today from Knipex. Our warehouse guys are kicking **** turning them around and getting orders shipped out as fast as they can before the holiday weekend. We should be receiving a much larger shipment soon.

edit: Also, we recently introduced a new feature within the order details section of customer accounts to give the best possible estimated ship date we have. While we will always love to hear from everyone, a big portion of contact is from folks curious the status of their orders. This should give you that answer anytime you want to check. Attached are the two places that information is located in the order history.

You Tuber and influencer, AutobahnDan released a twingrip video yesterday. Although his review wanders and ***** overall, you at least get some decent twingrip footage.

I think that pretty much describes most YouTuber "reviews" of tools. I've never seen any that I could really take seriously. Whether it's reviewer ignorance, piss poor methodology, obvious bias or needless montages of the tool overlaid with obnoxious hip hop music. Most are just a load of superlative laden horse **** where they slow walk to the point, in the rare case that they have one to begin with.

ordered the comfort grip version on amazon earlier today. i figure the late ship date will give me a few more reviews to look at so i can decide. might end up canceling the order.

i think this could be the future of slip joint style pliers. maybe not this specific product because the teeth may be a little too sharp and aggressive, but it's headed in the right direction. i could even see this design concept potentially replacing combination pliers.

this is a good thing, because i think slip joint pliers are pretty much useless.

it's funny because i used to think they belonged in every toolbox. it was the default pliers for me.
but now... why would anyone reach for them when you have pliers wrench, cobra, or even some kind of quality combination pliers?

you can get so much more leverage and jaw/grip pressure with PWs or cobras, it's not even funny. they're much more adjustable, too. now we just need a straight version!

there will always be some perfect pair of pliers for some specific thing, but i haven't used slip joint in years. i just don't see where it fits in anymore. especially for general purpose, i think that maybe all you need is PW, cobra, long nose, and maybe a combination or linesman's.
