New Knockout in Main Panel

I want to run 2 new circuits into my garage. One for outlets in the garage and one that will run up into the attic and out to my patio. The picture I included shows the knockout I want to use and right behind the panel is my garage. As you can see the one hole is pretty full. I can probably run another 3 wires for my garage outlets, but not for the patio circuit. As you can see there is a piece of conduit with a washer on the existing hole.
What do you recommend I do when I use the new knock out? Will I just run conduit from the garage side of the house all the way through or is there something different I can use?

How much wall space "void" is behind the panel ? 3.5 in. 5.5 in. ? Is the panel surface mounted as it appears to be ?

Probably about 3.5" The panel is set into the wall a couple of inches.

Exterior mounted panel. Right out side my garage. The garage is finished in sheetrock. The roof line is peaked. I really dont want to run conduit on the outside up the wall.

Must be out west, they don't do that here in the East. Personally I would not want a panel outside for a BUNCH of reasons. It isn't code to take a unsecured bundle of wires in an opening like that either, but its done all the time.

Disclaimer: All of my post below is contingent on me surmising that you have the skills to do what I am proposing and to work safely around electricity. If in doubt of either, hire a electrician.

Two ways that I know of...conduit/surface raceway on the surface of the garage wall or "fish" the romex up inside the garage walls....

If you want a clean garage wall, and do not want anything showing you will have to cut out drywall at the back of your breaker box and at the "top plates" of the garage wall in order to drill the holes in the plates and get the wire in to the attic and to pull the romex up from the breaker box to the attic. Some DW patching skills will have to be used. Or in lieu of DW patching, get the 6" sq. access panels in my link while being aware of the fire codes of penetrating a garage wall that is part of the house. The access doors would have to be fire rated if code requires. ..

To me, keep it simple. Cut the drywall out in two places, pull the romex up to the garage attic with some spares for future use and get on youtube and learn how to patch drywall. Something every man of the house needs to know how to do unless they can pay someone to do it for them. good luck. JMO

Id say at least 75% of panels in California are outside.

Ive been on countless service calls and hardly if ever see an issue related to the panel being outside.

If you have clear access (in the wall, ie no studs) where the KO is located on the main, then buy a flush mount sub pnl and mount it inside lining up the knock outs. Then couple to the main with a chase ******. Keep in mind that you must size the ****** appropriately for the conductors you plan on running.
