Doesn't the nature of a striking cap on a screwdriver immediately inform you this is a wear item and therefore a disposable tool?

BINGO!!!! Screwdrivers are consumables, as are wrenches and sockets (Except Snap-on ) Screwdrivers will get used as punches, prybars, stirring sticks, probes, and a million other things besides turning screws. They will break. Get another one and move on.
