I'm sure all of you will harass me, but I've actually been considering going all cordless electric in the lawn care department. They appear to make pretty decent cordless trimmers, blowers, and mowers nowadays. Helps to only have a 1/4 acre of grass.

I'm thinking the same as you....

I bought a cordless weedeater in 2001....except for replacing the battery, it was great...until I droped it and the top end broke off....I replaced it with a corded model...B&D Grasshog....hate it....it cuts ok but the cord is a PIA...the cordless would typically go 2-3 weeks before needing a charge.

I have a Craftsman mower....hate it....tired of putting gas in it...it's maybe 3 years old....always takes 6-8 pulls to get it started....

So I am now looking for a cordless mower......

If you wand other equipment that will last you a lifetime go with Stihl weed eaters, edger’s, and blowers. Buy the commercial line, the home line is OK (my in-laws have them), but it is hard to compare that to a commercial unit. The commercial units are 100% stronger. Also use gatorline sting, it has a small wire enclosed in the plastic line.

I could go on here for a while, but there is a start.
Would have to semi disagree with you.. Redmax blows stihl away...

Here's what I know I want, self propelled, Honda motor, Brand name (Troy Bilt, John Deere etc.).
Questions: Front or rear wheel drive??? Taller rear tires or same dia. front & back??? Plus any important options I'm not thinking of.

Front or Rear: I agree with Tatra. If you are going to bag, get a rear wheel drive, but they do take a bit of getting used to because you have to disengage the rear wheels anytime you want to turnaround (with a front wheel mower you don't have to disengage the front wheels, all you have to do is lift the front wheels and pivot)

The taller rear wheels are nice, but they do make the mower longer and therefore they require a larger turning radius. Since it's self propelled, I would not get the taller wheels.

Mulching blade. I have a mulching blade and no longer bag the clippings. Works great so long as you mow the lawn regularly.
