Congratulations junkman! I'd love to help you set it up, but I'm in Cali. Be sure and take lots of pics during and after your install. Good luck.

I hope you have good luck with your new BendPak lift. I purchased my HD-12 at the end of January and BendPak still can't seem to get the right parts to me to make it work correctly.

Jay50, It's been one problem after another with BendPak. They can't seem to do anything right and the harder they try to make things right the worse it is. I'm very frustrated at the moment because I found out yesterday that it's going to be 1 - 2 months now before they have the parts for my lift. I'll post a detailed post about it in a day or two when I've got more time and when I'm not so mad about it.

That's not good JCS, I pick up my HD-12SS tomorrow and I hope these problems aren't contagious. I hope they get yours fixed to your satisfaction. Bill

Flatmotor, Good luck with your HD-12. I'll be curious to see if you end up with any issues with your ladders. My lift is a HD-12 and I've have nothing but problems, all caused by BendPak. I thought they were getting things resolved and even posted on here complementing them on their customer service. I should follow up on that post because they didn't end up doing a thing they told me they were going to do.

Junkman,
Would you maybe change your mind and ship it to Washington state to help me set it up in my garage?
Probably not! Enjoy your new lift!

Junkman, if I'm not mistaken didn't you say somewhere you're quite senior in age unless you were joking? If you can't find someone from this board close enough to give you a hand, I'd say just have someone install it for you. It'll be worth the money.

Junkman - No need to show off on how quickly you can assemble this one. Just entice the same friends to come over again by offering better beer and more food choices. You could also throw a "lift" party as I'm sure there's someone nearby that would like to see one of these go together. I just wish I was closer so that I could pay you back for all the helpful emails and calls that helped me put mine together. Best of luck to you and don't forget to post a pic of one of your super long cars on the new lift.

Russell - Have no fear, I bet he doesn't even use the directions this time, since he can probably put this one together in his sleep. He's already assembled (and then dissasembled) one before and even helped many of us on this site with plenty of helpful tricks.

jcs_in_ky - Sorry to hear you're still working through things with BendPak. I know you said somewhere else that you can't get your lift all the way to the very top ladder position (a position many of us are envious of as we'll never see it due to limited ceiling height) but I'm at least hoping that you're getting some use out of the lift none the less. Are you using it on a regular basis? I'm just curious on how you like it when compared to your BendPak 2 post.

Ovilla, I am getting some use out of the lift now. I've had more downtime than I should of having to wait for parts to come though. To make a long story short the reason my lift won't reach the top windows on the ladders is simply because the window is located higher on the ladder then it should be. The lift raises as high as it's supposed to but I've found out that my current ladders have the windows approx. 2.9 inches higher then what the factory specs call for. I was just thinking about what you said about lots of people not being able to raise to the full height because of low ceilings. I wonder if others have this problem and don't realize it simply because they aren't able to raise the lift up that high due to their ceiling???? You were asking how I liked the 4 post compared to my 2 post. I haven't had a chance to put the 2 post up yet. To be honest trying to resolve issues on this 4 post has taken up any extra time I've had lately. I've got to finish putting a new roof on my house, and finish converting a room to a nursery (have a baby on the way the first of Nov) then I'll get that 2 post up. I'm just hoping the 2 post goes smoothly and not like this one.

I have had my lift all the way up successfully onto the top ladder position, during initial testing of the lift (which I bet a lot of folks did too?), and I also often put it up so that I can sweep up after working on my cars. Anyway, I've contemplated getting another lift, mainly to fit another toy in the garage so I've thought of a 2 post too (to have the best of both worlds and easily accommodate a bass boat on a trailer). Finally, do get that roof and other to do's done quickly. Nothing is going to rock your world (and steal your time and money) like a new bambino. That's awesome news! Congrats!

Junk,
If you need help, give me a ring. I need a break from work and putting one of these up would fit the bill.

jcs, congratulations; you will be getting some help around the shop in a few years.
BTW, have you considered that this new addition is indirectly related to your purchase from Bendpak?
Think about this; if the Bendpak lift you received in Jan-Feb of this year would have been complete with no problems, you would have spent more time in the shop with a car on the lift .....too tired for anything else...:lol_hitti:pimpflash

May I suggest the middle name of "Ben" if it is a boy?:lol_hitti

Thanks for offers to help assembly the lift. Right now, my wife has me doing a bunch of things for her that is taking up valuable time. I will be heading out to Carlisle PA for the Fall swap meet on the first of October, so if it isn't assembled soon, it will have to wait till I get back. I will have to see how things work out time wise and let you know. Thanks again... Junk

congrats on the new lift.
I would be more than willing to help just to get experience with these lifts, but I too have the "Honey doo list" to tackle.

Jay50, That's a funny comment there. We are still working on a middle name but I probably won't go with Ben. LOL. Back in Feb / Mar I was so frustrated with this lift situation that I'm surprised my wife even wanted to be around me. I'm looking forward to having a new helper here. Three years ago we moved from 1 acre in California to 20 in Kentucky and I'm finding it's darned hard work keep that much property up by myself. I don't know if I'll be able to hang on long enough for this boy to get big enough to help me or not! :)

Nothing personal jcs - and at least you are complaining about a lift you actually own - but if that's the ONLY problem, the lift not going all the way to the top of the ladder, I'm not sure I'd be all that upset about it. It sounds (from your description) as though the lift works as it should, it just doesn't go to a window that's cut too high - is that right? IMO, sounds like a temporary problem that they are really trying to remedy. Also sounds like you have near full use of the lift while you are awaiting the change over parts.

Anyways, hope you get the new ladders soon and then no-one can say: "your lift doesn't go all the way to the top".:lol_hitti

I talked to a one of the Techs on the phone at BendPak and they said they have corrected the issue with the allignment. He did say that there are some dealers that may have old stock that can be mixed with some new stock and that is where it gets to JCS's situation.
I need the full hight to allow for my truck to go under it so I will be a little upset if this happens, but I am sure it will be handles correctly.
