New light system - looking for feedback

First of all, I am NOT trying to sell anything here. We've picked up a new line and I'm looking to get feedback from the forum members since I respect the garage experience represented here....and yes, I did post something similar weeks ago but that was before the Lighting Forum was up so I'm looking for specific feedback from those looking for Lighting information.

Since price will factor into the feedback...the 2-light kit with the power hub and 2 4' fixtures is going to be approx. $170. One light add-on kit with a 4' fixture and joint pieces, etc. approx. $80.

Minimal wiring, no need for electrician, good looks. I have 4 fixtures running in my own garage off of one hub hard wired to a typical ceiling junction box. You can run up to 9 fixtures off of one power hub...no wiring between fixtures, just plug together. Using Daylight bulbs and the light output, ease of install, looks are pretty impressive so far.

What type of bulb do they run ?

I always thought it was bad to run too many things off of one plug ?

Runs T8 bulbs. Fairly low wattage fixtures like most fluorescents so as long as you have space on that circuit, running many is ok. Most homes can handle 5+ fixtures easily on one junction box.

You're right though...very good if your garage is already built and don't want to hire an electrician.

I like the looks of it, but I'm putting 9 fixtures up in my garage, and there's no way I could justify $810 on them, when I can get regular fixtures with wrap around lenses for under $200

This would be a good option for the guy who knows nothing about wiring and needs additional lights.

I'm assuming 'you' is referring to some form of the general public and not me. Never said it was for everyone and asked for feedback, hoping for the constructive kind.

Yes, UL listed. Due to the ease and speed to which they install, it would be very difficult to get an electrician to do for the same price, atleast in this market near NY city. We're finding it good for finished garages that are looking for a simple add-on lighting system to go with the rest of the remodel.

Feedback from this type of website (mostly do it yourself type guys) may not be the feedback you are looking for. I think the market you are after is the joe public who dont own a single power tool and fall off the ladders while changing a light bulb.

Seriously i am not bashing your product. It just blows me away that people would shell out $800 for something they could do reading a book/ asking a friend to help and about 100 bucks in lights and romex. Adding 4 fluoresent lights to an existing garage circuit seriously is about an hour long job.

That being said, i do think you have a product you can market and sell alot of. I just dont think you can sell them to our crowd. Hope there's no hard feelings

No hard feelings, was just clarifying. It's not for everyone and I have other avenues for feedback and clients but nonetheless wanted to request feedback from this forum which has been a great source of wisdom for me. I respect the level of workmanship that is exhibited on this forum by the individual homeowners but as you stated, not everybody has these skills which is where my company comes in. We do mostly 'show' garages for the auto enthusiasts and think this product could fit into some projects perhaps.

It is constructive feedback if you care to listen rather than insult someone that has responded to your public request.

You want to sell garage stuff to garage oriented guys you should listen to the ones that don't want to purchase what you are selling. They are the ones that you have not sold. PerdueSD's thoughts were spot on the first thing I thought too. The garage is project land and adding lights is just another garage project. This is more suited to a wife world grand closet remake IMO. She does not want to have a project, she wants lights. Down size them a bit, clam shell pack in kits and sell the hell out of them at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I would think that even a guy with a "show garage" that is all thumbs with his purchased show cars would have the money to hire an electrician and install something custom for less.

Besides... Potted plants in a garage???

My wife keeps that in her greenhouse/sunroom.

As a contractor, I know that most customers will want options/prices to customize the project cost to fit the budget. The first thing that hit me was the price. There are a slew of equally aesthetic options that are more cost effective. MHO.

No doubt. it's a product that we also offer besides completely custom, high-end professionally installed systems. Really we selected this to fill the void between the guy who can do this himself, and the super custom system. Wanted a product offering in the portfolio to fit every budget and need.

This is a great product for those who possess more money than brains. I will give you that the fixtures look real nice, just not economically feasible for mainstream folks.
