I bought 12 80 watt Lithonia wallpacks (LED) with glass diffusers. I went with wallpack style lights because I believe they'll be easier to keep clean as dirt and grinding dust shouldn't be able to get inside the light (unlike troffer style led lights).

I'll probably be mounting 2 on each wall of my 28x28 shop room, up tight to the 9 foot ceiling, and possibly tilted down slightly.

Am I gonna hate the glare or have a nice ridiculously bright shop?

I haven't heard of anybody else using wallpacks to light their shop. Why?

That's the equivalent of 12 400w metal halide wall paks. That a ton of light in there. I'd guess 4 would make it pretty bright.

Only you can decide if you like them or not.
They normally wouldn't get used this way, but what the heck...you already have wall mounted fluorescent so maybe you're used to the glare.
On tilting them... wallpacks are supposed to throw light downward and outward. If you tilt them from the top, you will be shortening the forward throw. You can play around with this, but my guess is that they'll be OK mounted without tilting.
My recommendation would be to use something different, but if you are going to use these, mount them as high as you can and definitely not in the direction that you are commonly facing.
Good luck,
CD
