Hi all!
I've been poking around for a while now. It used to be torture because the wife and I were in New Orleans and had no garage! Then we packed up, moved to Phoenix and I had a garage.....that wasn't mine. Blasted rentals!
But now, that's all changing! We're about to close on a house with a 3 car! It was the only real requirement I asked for when we started looking and she agreed. She loves me!....or wants me out of her hair.
The plan is to end up with a working garage. I have plans for a pro-touring 2nd gen camaro (or a 67-68 mustang). Either way, I'll need air, bench, workspace, lift, etc. All while maintaining 2 spots for our drivers since we don't want them outside in the PHX sun.
I'm still trying to formulate a plan of attack. It's not really easy since we've only walked through the house a handful of times but it's a start. I've noticed that there is ONE outlet in the garage that's hidden behind cabinets (see attached). So I'll need to address that as well as add an outlet for a compressor and/or welder. Also, trying to determine the viability of taking the existing cabinets and making them more suited to my needs. Something along the lines of cutting them through the middle and moving the tops closer to the ceiling for storage and reinforcing the bottom half and putting a top on it for bench & storage.
On a good note: no post tensioned slab to worry with when I get ready to look into a lift. Still undecided on which one.....ceiling isn't tall so I'll need to look into a tray or other options. And there are 2 doors. The single door doesn't have an opener yet. Liftmaster 8500 is on the short list along with replacing the current opener on the double door with an 8500 as well.
All of this and more....along with hunting down a car project AND keeping the wife happy (which is amazingly easy to do). I've got a jump start on the happy wife part already. Along with the house (that she loves) she's getting new living room furniture (and her own recliner to fall asleep in while reading) as well as a fancy new washer/dryer (which is, strangely enough, right under shoes on her favorite things list!) The house came with a washer/dryer but she's said that I can toss it on craigslist and use the $$ for garage stuff! This marriage thing is easy!
Excited to be in such good company and I look forward to hijacking many, many great ideas!
