So, today of all days, I'm busier then hell and my MAC Guy is busy, so I walk on the truck, pick up what I had on order and just had time to peek a bit at the new Macsimizer cart...looks like the MB1305, but with a split 2 piece top and had extruded aluminum rails on each end for Accessorizing (I assume)...I didn't have time to ask more about it. BUT I did see one of the techs on the truck open a drawer up and was completely blown away at the soft close slide...talk about slick.

Anybody else see what I'm talking about. I'm hoping that next week I have more time so I can ask some questions about it and see more about it.

Mac has had a split top cart for a while, it was an import unit. The cart linked to looks to be an updated version of that. Kinda disappointed because I thought I was going to see a version of the mb 1305 cart.

I saw that in the flyer also. Only thing I wondered is if one of the sliding drawers is for a laptop if they have a hole for the charger cord.

LOL, sorry...all day long I was playing back my mental pictures and I thought it was a new Macsimizer...
The cart your thinking of is the MB197 I think:
MB197UC.jpg

Judging by the PN, the new cart is an updated version of that one.

My brother has a MB1305 and its a hell of a nice cart.

2nd Bullet in the flyer reads:
Two top sliding drawers - right side drawer with access hole for power is designed to store a laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc.

I just got hooked up with a Mac distributor and am really liking some stuff. The new screwdrivers look great. And they also come in torx tamper torx hex and nut drivers. All made in USA. Seems they are getting their **** together. I REALLY want this box bad. I think it looks better than any others snap on included. It's huge 74" wide 32" deep and I think 46" tall. It's just a great looking box. I like the computer and power tool storage so it frees up space on top.

It looks like it would be easy for two guys to lift up into a pickup truck and drive away with it.

neat but the computer drawer gobbles up alot of space, and it makes 1/2 the top drawer useless when the laptop is in use

Mac makes some interesting carts.

Maybe a dumb question, but what is the preference for the pros? To me, a DIY guy) a 27" wide bottom or the like with a wood top is the ideal cart. What I always wonder about the carts, especially with the flip top lids, what happens when you have 20 different pieces on the top of your cart and then you realize you need XYZ screwdriver that is under the lid compartment? I can somewhat understand the slide split top like this one, but then your work space is cut in half and possibly off balance. :dunno:

You don't work on the flip top it's a cover you open in the morning and close at night. You use a bench to work on, or a different style cart these are main tool storage carts for your most used stuff.

Hey zkling, I think you and I are on the same wavelength when it comes to how we would want to use our carts. What we are looking for is a "Mobile Workstation" not a "Tool Cart".
I've got a KRSC100 on my shopping list for that reason. MAC Guy keeps trying to get me into a 1305 with the stainless Worksurface top, but I feel like you...if I need to get something in the back of the top, I'll need to clear the worksurface and flip it up. Even though I've got a nice large workbench in my garage, just feels like I never got place KRSC100 would be perfect.

Yea, every time I see a cart I always wonder how they are actually used in the professional shops. To me again a home guy I picture a pro has his main massive main box against a wall or something and then loads their cart with common tools to wheel to the work site / lift / vehicle / machine. Say the job is to change out a caliper. Well where do you sit the new caliper while the old one is being taken off? Or the old one while you put the new on on? :dunno: IDK to each their own I suppose, to me it just seems that a 27 or even 33" bottom box with a wood top would be the ultimate "tool cart" or excuse me mobile workstation. That is what I did I took my old 27" wide 12drawer bottom box, 4 swivel casters and keep majority of my tools in it. Then wheel it out to the driveway when needed.

Did you see this? I liked all the old boxes you see in the background.

finally got to see one in person and i must say i fell in love with it, i had snap on carts in the past and my current one is krsc33.

the slide top is a very nice feature i really liked. the soft close drawers was a very nice touch but i want to see it work with tools filled in them see if they see work. the side rail system is a nice as well allowing for add ons.

am already planning on trading in my snap on cart for one as soon as my dealer can get a green one. apparently right now they only come in red black and blue

The new mac one looks gimmick-y. Why would you need a to store your "tablet, cell phone" and all that **** in a service cart. A laptop maybe, but are you going to leave it in there? There's no separate lock for the lid.

I agree with the lack of workspace on top of carts argument. Not only that, once you load them with tools, it becomes to heavy to wheel around everywhere. That's why I bought a KRSC100
I just work on top of it, not intended for storage of any kind. Light enough to throw around, I can pull it towards me with my foot if my hands are busy. It's also a lot taller than any carts I've come across.

Im looking to use it to free up tool box space until next year when I can afford a new bigger box. Ive currently filled my 42inch costco csps box and its done well for 10years old.

You don't think a KSRC46 would free up space better? The KRSC43 has a sliding top instead of the flip up but no pry bar and screw driver storage slots up top. I don't see how these Mac carts can possibly be better than the snap on unless you just need or want to match a Mac box.

The mb197uc is big, like really big 40inch long and 22inchs deep and the extra draw section that I have eyed up 2nd hand will go if I go for the green.

i had one like this. it was the first one i ever bought and got in trouble for with the wife. i wish i still had it. it only flipped up on one side and had the expansion drawers in the bottom. i hit it with a freightliner the day it was delivered. thought i was in reverse. i was wrong. lol
