New Maglite ML300L

I was on the Maglite website getting some specs on some of my mags, and I ran into this beauty. It has 625 lumes on high, and 130 on low, and 58 on eco. High power gives you 16h of runtime, then 77h and 117h for low and eco respectively. I think this light and its cousins are getting Maglite back in the game for high lumen, high runtime flashlights. And it has the same, great look and durable anodized aluminum construction.

I've always liked Maglite. It's US made, nicely constructed and at very reasonable prices, too. I'm diggin' the Mag-Tac system they have available, 530 lumens on high, lrechargeable ithium iron phosphate batts, awesome.

Actually, the old 3cell Maglight was my beater light.

I made a couple of mods....replaced the 3 D cells with a 5 cell stick from a Streamlight. Put in a LED bulb good for 6 volts.

Cheap LED light that was about as bright as my Streamlight at a fraction of the cost and last 5x as long.

But the newer lights are much brighter....so the old mag has been re-tasked as household standby light. Tossed in Alkaline batteries and it sits on the shelf for when the lights go out.

They've been making led versions of all their lights for a while. They put out relatively low lumens compared to other brands with high output, but are better priced and more durable.

There is a newer 3 cell Maglite at "BrightGuy" that only costs about $50. and pours out way more light than the older Maglite LED model it also has a reduced brightness setting for more battery life -I think it is called "Gen 3"
newer Maglites-even the traditional bulb ones- don't seem to be as heavy bodied as the old ones

This light is finally getting them back into the modern light arena...if it holds up reliability wise.

I have been picking up the Maglite 2 packs, 3 d cell and 2 AA led's at HD for a few years, they seem to have them on sale for around $30 every x-mas.

Are they as bright as some of the others, No but for the price they are as durable as hell and I use the 2 AA's at work every day, and drop them from ceiling height all the time and they just keep working.

The 3 D cell's are in every vehicle with reg batteries seems they work better when it's -20F.

Honestly my dislike with most of the LED flashlights and tactical ones is that the beam is very narrow and not really adjustable. BRIGHT as hell, but such a narrow beam *****. Maglight is nice and adjustable and until the batteries exploded in ym old red 2D mag I was happy-20 years old and was going strong..

My fav light was a streamlight propolymer 4AA luxeon LED, until batteries ate that too after 7 years. Wasnt the brightest but I couldnt break it and its chemical resistant.

I love my streamlight survivor but Ive been looking for a good bright light with an adjustable beam. Might have to pick one of these up. Ive always loved maglites but have shyed away due to low power.

That is this one. It sells for around 50, the msrp is 70 though.

I have the new 2 d cell led pro which puts out 275 lumes and I've dropped the thing a lot and it has never broken. I has hit a hard stone ground at around 10 mph and only cosmetic damage. The light didn't even turn off. They are still durable.

Love maglites. Ive had several of them ever since the small ones were given as inflight gifts when virgin atlantic first started. I've recently just bought a keyring led lenser and its very good, so much so that im going to try a larger model..

Lost track of how many Maglites I've had. Still keep a D cell version in every vehicle, a few in house, shop.

Mirrors my experience. The minimags with the twist heads tend to **** out too. I have had practically brand new ones **** out. The older maglites were better quality, I think, and that was back when they were decent lights. Over the past 10 years or so, they seem to have gotten a lot less reliable. I had enough of them **** out on me while trying to get work done or while in the airplane to put me off the brand.

Streamlight and Surefire make reliable, durable, bright lights that are worth a damn. They are a little more expensive than Maglites but the no frustration factor more than makes up for it. Fenix also makes some good lights.

I dunno about them being more durable. I picked one up a few years ago to replace an older style one and it broke in a week. I don't think the led ones have the lifetime guarantee either....

I brought a similar light for $8 on Ebay. It had the adjustable focus like a Maglite, when you focused it to a tight spot you could see the square, when you focused it to a flood it was a more normal beam. Crapped out after a while but for $8 it lasted a couple of months.

Flashlights seem to come up here from time to time, and the overall knowledge level here is low. I'm not trying to say that in an insulting way, but just factually - for most of you guys, flashlights aren't your thing. (generally speaking - there are a few people here that know more than "Maglite, Streamlight, Surefire, Fenix, and "Other".)

Get a Cree Flashlight off ebay. They're at 300LM and cheap! Myself and a lot of the estate sale "Regulars" have these and they light up the night. I have used it on full zoom to clearly illuminate house numbers from in the street while in the car.

You forgot Nitecore. Love my TM-11. Good flood and 2500 Lumens. You can light up anything with that bad boy!

Also love my Fenix TK-45. Unique design and great flood and uses AA's.
