Not looking to hijack a prior thread (credit being given the to OP poster) - but it looks like Menards has updated their website with the new Masterforce boxes. Looks like many colors in many sizes. I'm hoping these are just as well built as the hunter green ones we've seen, I'm just a little leary of the new grip-latch style drawer pulls.

I e-mailed them a while back and asked them if they ever had any intentions of coming out with other colors and was told that they had not planned on it. Now they have colors other than the grass green:tantrum2::tantrum2::mad:

Kevin,

I feel your pain, but I never minded the green. You got a great box for the money. I've been using Snap-On boxes for a while now, but those Menards boxes are by far better than any other store box I've seen.... and I've seen them all!

I looked at them very briefly, they have latches on the drawers, don't know if I like that or not, kinda leaning to the dislike side right now. I didn't like the green.

This post has me thinking about my own delema.....I have a 52" Craftsman chest that is Forest Green. Anyone know if these new or the old Mastercraft cabinets are near the same shade as the Craftsman forest green ?

I'm about 200 miles from the closest store so it a bit hard to tell over the internet. I would be great to match and get the 16" side Lockers. I didn't get it done before sears ran thru their last forest green product.

I am not digging the drawer layout. Plus, the prices are up and you know quality has to be lower

I like the 56" top drawer. Unfortunately, that's about the only thing I like about it. What's up with the drawer configuration split right down the middle?

damnit...I wanted a blue box. Bought the international one for about the same price as their 26" box. I like the drawer layout a lot more on the MF box (deep top drawer for sockets in hansen trays)

I guess I'm alone here thinking that functionality of a tool box is more important than color. What ever happened to common sense?

My box is works fine. I just wanted a blue one. and a 26-30" box with 6-8 drawers. The only downside to the one I got is that there isn't a deep drawer at the top of the box. Otherwise I couldn't be happier.

Does this mean they are discontinuing the old ones and when?

Went to Menards a couple days ago and they had all new cabinets - but only in the green. They did have maybe 3-4 "older style" chests and cabinets in another isle and yes, they were marked down. I should have taken pics but didn't think about it - the new chests have lids that are almost the same style as the Montezuma lids. My problem is that I really like the new MF blue, and the Montezuma only comes in black (I think).

Just before checking out the new MF cabinets I drove to HF and played around with their 41" rolling cabinet. Not sure if it was just the floor model, but there was tons of back-and-forth play in the drawers when fully extended and the aluminum trim was already coming off the drawer pulls. I felt that even with the new griplatch pulls, the MF cabinet was a little better made. And with a "limited" lifetime warranty (whatever that means) vs. 90 days, the MF cabinet may be worth the extra cost.

I gave the new cabinets a once over in the Columbus Menards, and I was impressed. It doesn't look like build quality took a dive at all; from what I can tell, its likely the same manufacturer; the bodies and drawers are almost identical, insofar as I could tell, save for the grip latch, which actually works rather well. Late to the party sure, but their previous system worked great under most conditions, so i can see why they weren't in a hurry to change it.

I'm disappointed I can no longer get a side cabinet to match my 26" rollaway, but judging from what I can tell, the new side cabinets are just like the old ones, just with grip latch drawers.

One thing I did notice, the new 36" rollaway has a deep drawer up top like its 26" and 41" siblings. Finally.

And we seem to have more size options: 26", 30", 36", 41" 46", 56", and 72"!

The 72" looks damned amazing.

I'm still a fan of the green, so the other colors don't interest me much, but I will say the blue is sharp.

Just saw the new ones at the Massillon menards, really impressed. Quality seems just as good as old boxes, id say same manufacture. I have the old style 36" wide and I'm quite excited about the grip latch. My box is in an unheated shop and when it gets cold they re a pain. And the lock system is quite unimpressive. You can move the slides to change layout but it won't lock after that. The new ones have a tubular lock and it looked like they went to a more conventional locking system. Other then that I love them, awesome aluminum drawer pulls and the paint is quite nice, just not the color IMO.
.
Did you guys see the worktop offerings? Bamboo, oak and stainless reasonably priced. The 56" stainless is 150.

Hope they get prices down on sales, they re kind of steep
