Hey all. First post here by a new member to the forum. I live in North Alabama and recently bought a new house on 20 acres which included a very nice, large shop.

Garage/shops are somewhat new to me as my one and only previous house only had a covered carport and a 20'x 30' dirt floor pole barn used to house livestock. Similarly, growing up my dad used our basement as his wood workshop and only had a wood barn which was used for horses and storing some equipment and tractor. I am 30 years old and while I am very DIY around my house and vehicles, I have not really accumulated too many tools and whatnot since college mainly due to lack of storage and having nowhere to take on larger projects like car restorations. Now that can all change.

The new shop is huge by my standards. It has 3 enclosed sections and a 3rd that is a lean-to with an enclosed back side. The main area is 56'x40'. It is insulated and has a drop ceiling with an attic with approximately 9' walls on the long side coming up to a max ceiling height of around 13' in the middle. It has a 12' wide x ~10'tall roll up door on the gable end and two standard garage doors on the adjacent side. There is another section on the long side which is divided into approximately a 15' x 15' room (plumbed for a refrigerator and sink and has some crude built in shelving) and another approximately 40' x 15' area previously used as a woodshop. The lean-to portion runs the full 56' and is approximately 15' wide and is a gravel floor whereas everything else is high psi concrete.

As nice as it is, there are a few things that are lacking including pretty poor lighting and some cleaning up of some electrical. the main floor shop needs a good cleaning and some of the walls could use some paint. I imagine I will spend some time working on a few things like that before I begin buying more tools or taking on any new projects. I imagine once things start piling up it gets difficult and I like to work while I have a clean slate. I already have a few projects on hand that should last me a while including an atv, dirt bike, multiple small outboards, and my late grandfather's ~1980 F100. I also have a 9k Rotary Lift I will be installing asap.

I look forward to posting more on this forum as I work on and in the shop in the near future!
