Hi All, I've been reading the forum for a few weeks now trying to put together ideas for my garage so thanks for all of the useful information. I'm in the middle of researching an epoxy solution for the floor and wanted to get a few opinions.

The garage won't get much hard use so the floor is mainly for looks. 3 car garage, about 650 square feet in California (current high temps in the upper 70s and lows in the lower 50s at night). I also don't expect to be in this house beyond 10 years. I've still got to the do the cleaning and etching, but am struggling with what solution to go with. I've looked at several solutions from a friend who picked up some random brand at the local big box store (Epoxy Coat?) to Rust-Oleum Professional to some of the Legacy HD applications on this site. I've read about the water vs. solvent based solutions, etc. along with potentially doing a primer coat and the top layer clear coat. Is there a "best bang for my buck" solution for a simple residential application? I think I want to do the top clear coat, but not sure about primer or the need for a heavier duty industrial type of solution like Legacy HD... Lastly, I plan on filling the cracks between the concrete slabs, but also noticed various hairline cracks, should I try and fill those too or would primer and epoxy cover those up? ... thanks for the help.

The epoxy wont cover the hairline cracks. You need to fill them, and grind them level, just like the cut joints. The epoxy is only a few mils thick ( 1000 of an 1") so it doenst conceal well - But flakes do!

Dont use the product from stores ( though now Rustoleum bought Citadel, so maybe their product will improve) I cant speak for quality of anyone's product. I dont use anything available to DIY. Keep in mind service is important, and you want someone to hold your hand.... that might come at slightly higher product price....
