Hey guys,

I've read on here for awhile after having it recommended by a friend. Lots of good advice and great projects. I bought a house a few years ago with a nice sized attached garage (with hot/cold taps and a floor drain!) but it was unfinished. Just two outlets, two bare bulbs and no insulation.

This year I'm planning on wiring, insulating, sheeting and painting it, and building a workbench, cabinets and shelving. I'm on a tight budget but after seeing what people here have done, I'm convinced I'll be able to do a nice job of it for a reasonable investment.

Welcome from Edmonton!!!

It sounds like you are in the exact same position as I was about a year ago. Our garage was not insulated either, and lacked lighting and plug ins.... If you want some ideas have a look at what I did on a tight budget... My wife was REALLY strict with the budget LOL. Most of the stuff was either used from Kijiji or made by myself.

Be sure to post a thread in the Gallery section to show us what you are working with! Do not be afraid to show us your garage as it is now, it is all about improvements bit by bit...

I am super jealous of the water and drains in the garage!!!

Thanks, Sean! I read your project thread and I'm astounded - you're a magician with those Buicks. And congratulations on the new son. I'm actually just outside of Edmonton. It's a nice place but I'm jealous of the guys from the Southwest states. Rust-free cars, summer year round and still being close to the mountains and coast.

Haha, I won't lie - when we got the house, the wife loved the kitchen and I loved the garage. It was a perfect compromise. I've finished most of the basement and the yard, and now it's time to get the garage done.

Thanks for the compliments! We are in Fort Sask.... A little less busy than the city...

26x26 is a good size.... When we bought ours it was tough to find a house she liked and a garage i liked while staying in budget... You will be happy with 26x26!

Nice. I'm in Spruce Grove. Lots of friends out in Fort Sask though. We lived downtown for awhile, but I got sick of it. Too noisy, too dangerous, too cramped. I got a nice sized house with a decent garage and a real yard out here for a bit cheaper than in the city.

26 x 26? Man, I wish! Unfortunately my garage is 22 x 20. Still a decent size though.

I'll toss up an thread in the Gallery to keep progress updating. I'm measuring and planning today. Lots of great ideas on here!

Sorry, I mixed up the size... I must have been thinking of another garage thread..

I look forward to seeing your build thread, and remember lots of us have garages that are far from perfect.... Its all about improvements, bit by bit.
