Hey everyone,
I've been reading these forums for a little while, and finally decided to register. Im 26 years old, and just bought my 1st house about 3.5 months ago. A garage was pretty high on my list being a car enthusiast, but it was hard to find a place within my budget, with a garage.(Colorado's housing market it crazy right now)
There was one house I put an offer on, and almost got(sellers accepted another offer) and it had a giant garage/shop, probably 40x40 with really tall ceilings. I was upset I missed out on that one. The house I ended up in, was a better house over all, but it doesn't have that garage I was hoping for. It does have what I consider a small shed, that I think I can make work as a garage, until I can build my dream garage.(luckily my lot has room to build a big 2 car, or maybe even a 3 car, with tall ceilings.
So, for a temporary fix, and some practice setting up my 1st garage. Im going to fix up the shed. I guess it could be considered a garage, but I call it my shed. I hope to change that. It was dark outside when I decided to write this, so Ill get some pictures soon. But I will post the layout that I drew out.
It definitely needs some work and maintenance, but thats part of the fun, right? It is roughly 13.5'x19.5', but the ceiling height is only 7'2". But I think I can make it work.
The rectangle in the lower left, is a raised portion. The concrete there is about 3" higher then the rest of the concrete floor. Currently it is framed in, as a little storage room, but I will likely pull all that down, and make it more open. Add insulation and then drywall/paint and better lighting.
Like I said, I forgot to take pictures before it got dark. Ill try to take some tomorrow.
Once I start doing some work, Ill do a little "build thread". I love some of the single car garage I have seen on here so far.
