Hi,
I just joined Garage Journal to learn more about possibilities with our garages. My wife and I share a hobby - working on and driving fun cars. We tend towards European sports cars from the 1960's-70's era but our love of cars is rather broad. We completed the restoration of a 1928 Ford Model A & sold it to purchase a 1966 Lotus Elan. That probably gives a clue as to the breadth of our appreciation of cars.
We currently have 2 garages built into our house. An upper garage at the main level of the house and a basement garage that originally had 2 garage doors to give parking for 2 additional cars. We blew out a couple of walls in the basement and now can fit 5 of our cars down there. With our small cars, we are able to fit 9 cars inside (or 10 if we stack using our lift). That limitation has prevented us from expanding our collection.
Our goal is to either build another garage/shop next to the house or to buy a large property that has space for a very large shop (or already one existing or convert a barn). In our "dream garage", we would like 2 working spaces with lifts and room for at least 15 cars parking. Don't know if we can get there or not.
I hope to learn a lot here. I'll probably be more of a lurker reading everything than a strong contributor.
