Hello everyone. Let me introduce myself. I live near Atlanta, worked here until 2022, and now looking to move out of the metro and get out of this traffic and urban environment.

I have a few mechanical toys that I maintain and upgrade from time to time, and would really benefit from a shop at my new place (wherever that turns out to be). I would like to have about 40x60 floor space, and a large door. Need some living space as well, so a barndo type building might work for me (no wife).
Came here to search for stories from others who may have started out buying raw land and going this route.

Cheers

Welcome to the Forum. I once bought a house in Glynn County, but shortly thereafter I met an attractive red headed woman and I reevaluated my priorities.

A good woman is a treasure, and I don’t regret not keeping my Glynn County house.

Okay, reading other "new guy" threads, looks like I'll get pinged for a photo. Here's a photo of why I need a shop with 2 motorocycles crammed into one half of my 2 car garage, have another in the basement. Just recently moved my airplane project to a storage unit until I can get shop space.

I chose this photo because there's a vice in the picture. I'm not sure what the pedigree of that vice is, but I think I bought it at Lowe's about 20 years ago. It sits atop a bench I made out of 2x6 lumber with Simpson galvanized connectors, and has a 3/4" MDF top. It is also 20 years old, and has been a nice combo with the vice on top.

Anyway, thanks, looking forward to all the wisdom I will gain from you all.
