Greetings:
Long time lurker and admirer of vises that have graced these pages. The site is a great source for discussion and information. Happy to be a member.
Recently, purchased a Chas Parker vise model 806. I have no particular need for the vise this big 159 lbs. just wanted one. It's a rare beast from another time whose likeness won't be repeated and for that it's special to me. I looked for months to find one.
Although the vise is quite useable the way it is, it requires extra revolutions to close and open. Understand there are no parts out there in terms of a source. Any suggestions on what might help? Thanks in advance.
