I've been an unregistered lurker here for long enough, so today it was time to come out of the shadows and become a legitimate member of the Garage Journal society.

Thanks to all the members who have come before me, offering insight that I've used often regarding the old Gray/Red Craftsman top boxes and rollers of the 60s and 70s.

Those have a warm place in my heart as that is the box style my father had (and still does).

I've stayed pretty true to the earlier Craftsman stuff, but have added an occasional unmarked but well constructed box to the collection (more accurately, an accumulation) as well as earlier boxes from Mac Tools and Cornwell.

I look forward to continuing the journey with my fellow GJ members.

Thanks for the welcome RD.

I love your "We aren't rich...But we do poor better than most!" sig.

That's one heck of a good description of our area! :)

Thanks for the welcome DIF.

While I've accumulated many vintage boxes over the years, my "vintage tool" collection only goes back as far as the Fall of 1984 when I had to replace everything that was lost to some folks who decided to steal my Craftsman box and its contents, while I spent the night in a motel on the way back from a big drag race at Bill Helscher's Green Valley (Texas) Race City to my home at that time in Amarillo.

Wooster OH,
Welcome Wayne. I also lurked before joining and I still don't contribute much as I'm not really an expert in anything. I was always told that God gave you two ears and one mouth, and they should be used in proportion. I hope to provide more input later this year as I put the all the information and helpful tips Iv'e read about here into practice when I start building a shop and barn this summer.

Wayne: sorry to hear your old tools were taken by a scumbag, but your 1984's are VV and darn close to vintage now.

you can post pictures of your cars, pets garages or signs you like on your intro thread when and if you wish to.

again welcome and if you take a few pictures of your toolboxes and put them on the vintage toolbox thread i know a few of the guys will be talking about them.

Thanks Jeff and 1/2 Cup.

On days like today (snowy and temps in the lowest of double digit Fahrenheit), I think all of my fellow Ohio GJ board members would rather be 'Down Under' with you Mr. 1/2 Cup.

BTW we have a bunch that gets together for the areas swap meets.
Keep an eye out in "Free Parking"

Cool.

I missed the swap meet this past Sunday at the Medina County Fairgrounds, but may hit the one at that same location in February.

There is a swap meet three times during the summer season at the Canfield Fair Grounds where the area members have been known to meet. Great to put a face with the 'handles'. But be prepared , it is a little shocking when you first see the one with 3 eyes!!
