Hello all,

In my search for garages (metal and wooden) I came across this site. I am currently in an apartment with a 10x20 one car garage I can't do a whole lot with. My wife and I are in the process of buying a home with a one car attached garage with enough room to build an additional 24x24 garage in the backyard. I can see this will be a good place to get ideas from.

I do have a question, is there any issues going with a metal building VS. a wooden structure? The cost of the metal is very enticing and it seems I can have it completed well within a modest budget.

Thank you.

Welcome from a fellow NJ resident. Good luck with the purchase and build. The people here are a great help and i'm sure would love to see the build.

JT,

Another welcome from another NJ resident (Exit 102 :)). My partner and I do construction work, so send me a PM or e-mail with your number if you want to talk about this off line. You'll want to check with the township to see what they will allow you to do.

Good luck and keep the board posted with your progress.

Ed. PM sent. I am still in the buying stage of the house right now but all looks good. I am moving from aberdeen to brick. The house 3 down from the one we are buying has a similar garage to the one I would like to build in the same location on the property so it shouldn't too much of an issue. Of course I will check with the township first for permits and such. Thanks for the warm welcome.
