Just want to introduce myself. My name is Will and I'm located in Westchester County, NY. I have a nice attached garage and shop at my house, but my getaway spot is located on a small lot across the street from my sister in-laws house. I refer to it as my investment with "benefits"......it has a small two car garage on it. At some point, I'll either build a house on the property and flip it or I'll sell the property as is. If a home was to be built on the property, the existing garage would have to be taken down, so it does not make sense to extend the current garage or spend big $'s on it.
My sister in-law keeps her car on one side and I'm now using the the other side to restore my new toy....a one owner, high option, low miles '74 Corvette that sat for years. For the last few years, I was storing my resto-mod '71 Camaro in the garage.....I did most of the work on the Camaro in my garage at home and after I was done with it, my wife put her foot down..."No more long term projects in our garage".
So far, I've just done the basics in the garage (i.e. work bench with large vise, lighting, outlets, etc.). It has a nice size loft, which is great for parts storage. The only real negative is no heat....and no insulation. I can heat it up with my propane heater, but it cools down pretty quickly. I need to look into my insulation options.
