I have been a lurker here for awhile and decided to join your forum. I have recently retired and have started building my garage/workshop. It is 16'x 28' with a 10'x16 concrete apron. It is conventional frame stick built on concrete foundation with 6-12 trusses. The foundation is complete and been inspectied the walls and sheathing wrapped in Tyvek. It will have a 10' roll-up door and a 3'0' man door. No pics yet my camera is broken:lol_hitti. I am waiting on trusses right now. I live in the mountains of Western NC and a flat piece of ground to build on is at a premium. I am doing a lot of the work myself and hired a friend who is a builder to assist. Originally I planned on siding the building in Hardie-panel however I am having second thoughts due to being able to get locally milled true 1"x12" white pine rough sawn kiln dried for about $140.00 more. I would actually save money due to me being able to install the rough sawn myself. If I go with Hardie panel I will have to hire out he labor due to back problems. Any input from garage builder/veterans would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave AKA 5lima30
