Hey everyone,

I'm new here, glad I found this site!

We have a 9 foot high 3 car garage and are thinking about a lift. I want a 4 point, mainly for storage. I have a cobra at 48inches and a '33 at 52 inches. If I have my opener and tracks raised, will a four point fit?

Thanks!

Adam

That only leaves you 8 inches for the lift. I doubt very much you'd be able to find one to work for your needs. If you still want a lift I know a lot of people are very happy with their maxjax lifts for low ceilings. Of course you couldn't fit a car under one of those. Sounds like you have some fun toys.

Figure about 5 inches for the lift deck, and at least 2 inches to lift and lock the upper car into position. If that plus the height of the two cars (plus an inch for drive-under space) is less than the floor-ceiling height, you should be able to make it work.

That assumes no garage door opener or tracks in the way, so if you have a center-pull GDO, you'll need to consider a shaft-drive unit like a LiftMaster 3800.

LiftMaster 3800 is the way to go. That's what I have, my ceiling is much higher than yours, but I can lift my car right up to the ceiling if I back it in - garagedoor fits above the trunk (911).

try this modification for your ceiling. It took a 2 day's to do but well worth it. I went from 9'9" to about 12'.

I wish i could do this, but I have our game room right above this and I'm not sure how much space I will gain. I have to check this out. Great idea!

Bend-Pak has detailed drawings in their installation manuals, which can be found on their site. I had to ask a few times before I was sent a document (which appears to be a standard sell sheet... no idea why it was so hard to get) showing the exact lock heights.

My second lift did need measuring and thinking in a matter of inches to get the Mustang as high as possible, so I paid a lot of attention to floor slope, lock heights, ladder adjustment, etc. Unless you're down to less than 2 inches of extra space between car heights and lift height, you should be able to twiddle things into place. Worst case, you might have to depressurize the upper car's tires to get it into place, then put some storage pressure back in.

You can always rake the Cobra's windshield a little more, or go to a racing windscreen. :D
