I'm new to the forum. Here is some history and pics for anyone interested. I have an attached garage too small to be a workshop. So, 2 years ago, I finished a workshop in the basement...it was beautiful. Then, my wife moved her jewelers smithing desk into it and apparently, sawdust and silver smithing doesn't mix. Plus the 1968 Karmann Ghia convertible we restored needed a new home since neither of us were willing to park our new cars outside anymore.

I had the footers and slab done by an excellent resources. An impressive job. Before trusses, framing inspection went great. After hanging the trusses, I realized this was too big a job for one person and I needed some help. I have a real carpenter helping now. The framing has been in progress for two weeks now and almost complete. I hope to have it under roof in another week and have siding the week after.

Once I'm enclosed, I'll begging finishing the space and upload more pics.

I call it "Man Cave 2.0" seeing how the Mrs. has invaded my oasis in the basement.

Been extremely busy lately. Will post new pics soon. Going for electrical inspection on Tuesday. Having garage doors installed professionally....hopefully next Wednesday. I've lost about 20 lbs so far working on this beast. I want to lose another 20 lbs...what should I build next? :p

Good for you, Uglywon! Dropping 20lbs is a good thing. Something I really need to do too. Would imagine if you drop another 20, should we start calling you Skinnywon?

Just a quick suggestion on your garage door installation; If you are using torsion bar springs to raise the doors, a strong backer board is something that can be added for the torsion bar frame to be bolted into. You probably have this in place. Also, you seem to be on site most all of the time. Would be great if you can monitor the fellows installing the doors for you and to have them do the work the way you want it completed. And, if you can, painting or powder coating the garage door hardware prior to install is a very nice touch for your garage.

Hope you are having fun.

Looking forward to reading more about your build. Looks to be a terrific project.

Ody.

Looks great! They are never big enough...I added 600sf (with 13' ceiling) to my garage 2 years ago and was just looking at it the other day saying to myself "I could have gone a few feet more at the rear". Go figure..... I did a rear door like you and love it - so will you! Keep the updates coming...
