Hey guys. Im a new member here and figured I would go snap some pictures of my garage. We just bought this house about 3 months ago, and it is our first house. (Im 24). Anyhow, it needs some finishing but atleast the major part of it is done. Since moving in I picked up some old kitchen cabinets from my parents house and hung them. I also just picked up a refridgerator, and bought and installed a window a/c unit, and just picked up a 45,000btu natural gas furnace. I have yet to install the furnace, but it was nice because everything was already ran for it in the garage. Natural gas, exhaust pipe, etc, all already there. Anyhow if anyone has some idea's or layout for the garage finishing, any suggestions and or comments are appreciated! Thanks guys!!

Also, the washer and dryer will be going in the basement to replace the ones that are in the house now, and that deep freeze is going to the landfill along with the 2 old doors out of the house, and all that old wood trim in that box.

Rodney looks like a great start I will recomend you start watching craigslist for more cabinets . I have old metal kitchen cabinets and they are a great cheap garage cabinet . I put a wanted add on my local craigslist and 3 weeks later got an email from a guy who had some he was willing to give me I filled my van twice with cabinets I still havent gotten them all painted . There are alot of good finds for garages to be found on craigslist including sheds for the lawn equipment cheap :D.I would say get some OSB and cover the walls before hanging to much though theres several guys here who have used OSB and if my garage wasnt already drywalled thats the way I probably would go .Congrats on your first man cave .

Im thinking I will use drywall instead of OSB just because of the cost difference. I do need to get it up on the walls before I get too much more hung. I also want to epoxy the floor. Lots to come in the future. Of course when time and money allows.

Went to home depot tonight to price out wall covering options. Looks like I will be going with drywall, as it is alot cheaper! 1/2 inch OSB runs 11.88 a sheet here, and 1/2 inch drywall runs 5.38 a sheet. Looks like for about 300.00 I can have the entire garage drywalled, taped, mudded and primed. Now I just have to talk the wife into it, that should be fun :) Also priced in ceiling speakers that will be going in also, bar stools, tools, and looked at flat panel TV's. Cant wait for my man cave to be done!!!

I see someone else's drum kit has been relegated to the garage! Some women just don't have a sense of humor!

haha, its actually not mine. I am a new guitar player and I actually get to practice in the basement, but she kicked me out of the living room. That drum set is from a buddy of mine's band. They practice here twice a week.

Nice Garage.

I learned three things here.

1) 5/8 gypsum board may have a fire rating.
2) OSB would make a nice wall covering
3) There is more to Craigslist then cars and bikes.

Thanks folks.

I recently put 1/2" OSB on the walls of my new garage. I'm lucky because around here it was only $6.99/sheet. The finish isn't as nice as drywall but I sure like being able to run a wood screw in it any where I need.

Boy I wish that I had a garage at such a young age. Great job!

Besides finishing the walls as others have suggested, make sure that your electrical is up to whatever you may need now and in the future. Run the extra circuits and install outlets now before the drywall is up. How about 220v for an air compressor or welder?

In my garage I also installed a ceiling fan. It was left over from my interior remodel. It just looked out of place in it's wood and wicker finish so I painted it to look like the prop on a Navy P-3 Orion. It really helps to circulate the air in the summer and I highly recommend it.

awesome man and thanks! I have one 220 outlet in there right now. That should be enough. Also, plenty of outlets. I do need to add a cieling fan or two as I think it would help the a/c quite abit. I didnt buy quite a big enough a/c unit, so I think a fan to move around the cool air would help greatly.

Take it from someone married 28 years. No truer words have been written than those from Rick! Nice garage. Heat, AC, fridge. You're on your way. Now's the time to think about epoxy or something on the floor before too much stuff gets in there.

Nice looking garage. Sounds like you have a plan. And I agree, you are lucky to have a place of your own to play in at your tender age. Good luck to you!
