Good afternoon folks,

I've searched through the forums a little during the planning phases of my new shed and picked up some good ideas. I joined so that I could create a thread about my build and ask questions along the way. I'm in eastern Virginia in a small coastal county, building codes are relatively relaxed and as for my shed (240sq. ft.), it will be uninspected and not require a building permit.

I have been working out of my current attached garage (20x24) for the last few years and my biggest complaint has been "shifting gears" from mechanical projects to my hobby woodworking. Having a dedicated space for each will save me time and energy spent for clean-up and tool reorganization.

I picked up some plans from shedking that I intend to modify and use as a guide for my build. The new structure will be a 12x20 Gambrel shed. While a simple roof and wall structure would probably be sufficient in housing my tools, I am intending on building a solid, climate controlled workshop that is suitable for year round use.

The shed is going to be wood frame construction, from the ground up. Insulated floor, walls and ceiling, double pane windows and insulated doors. I debated on a slab but I'm close to the water table here, three homes away from flood zone, and wood frame foundation makes my build more economical and easy for me to DIY.

Thoughts and opinions are encouraged, constructive criticisms welcomed! I'm waiting on my building materials at the moment but will start a thread when they arrive.
