I have just joined The Garage Journal (TGJ) after searching for info on a vise I recently purchased. Several TGJ threads showed up on my google search regarding the vise and the now here I am. Some background on the purchase: A neighbor who was a woodworker with a very nice shop in his basement passed away a couple years ago and now his widow is getting ready to move and sell off his equipment and tools. I have to say that I wish he was still living as he was a very nice guy. So I respectfully approached his widow about looking at what she was selling. Walking into his shop was like a kid walking into a candy store. Many hand tools on the wall and power tools. I purchased the vise, a heavy duty Fowler/Bison 6" where the back side moves away from you. Also bought a Sanborn Cast Iron Series 30 gal belt drive air compressor (like new) and a Dewalt DW708 Dual Bevel Compound Miter Saw on a Delta table that folds with wheels (also excellent condition). Paid $20 for the vise, $150 for the compressor, and $300 for the saw + table combo. They will get good use and I will smile while I use them and think about him.

woody73, Thanks for the response. By chance, I could tell stories about Columbus as I attended OSU. I will try on the pictures as I am not very talented when it comes to posting pics.

4019pine you would never recognize the south High Street part of campus, they have torn down many buildings and revitalized entire blocks with all new buildings, restaurants, housing, book stores etc. They saved the longs book store sign and put it on display outside another new bookstore.

Talk about change they have a brand new student union maybe one day I will get a chance to look inside; I have been told it makes the old student union look small in size.

I lived in Baker Hall on South campus a couple of years so know that part of campus and High Street well. Is "The Library" still in business on High St?
