Hi , I own an 97 year old home which used to be a small working farm. The garage I have has a cement floor ,4x4 studs and a working garage door on one end. The reason for joining is to figure out through communicating and advice from those whom have been there and done that, how to expand my existing 1.5 car garage & shop to a 4 car garage which is longer and wider to accommodate more stuff.
the layout is like a capital L with a longer stall put in off the back of the old farm garage/shop building. compartmentalized, the bottom leg of the L has no open connection to the rest of the building.there are 2 stalls which sit 90* from the end room which is the existing 1.5 car garage. The roof is asphalt shingle and is nearing the end of its useful life. exception being again on the bottom building of the L it has steel roofing material.
all in all the configuration is cumbersome and largely old school as there are 2 enormous sliding wooden doors on a track of the 2 stall middle shop area, additionally ,the floor of the end garage sits 1.5 feet higher than the floor of the perpendicular stalls of the middle area, no cement floor in the bottom of the L . Where do I start ?

BJ: i'm certainly not the Barn build or transformation expert, but i will say that you'd get better answers if you post your questions on threads that do have a barn build going on because this is the intro section that not many members see. just for practice can you post a few pictures here on this intro thread and maybe tell us a bit more about yourself? also posting on other threads helping or asking questions and getting to know us would help your cause.

cheers and WELCOME
