Hello,

I've been looking into building a 24x32 garage. I considered a pole building but since it will need to be built into a small hill I decided a block foundation would be best.

I plan to do all the work myself with the help of experienced friends.

I already found some used aluminum, insulated, 9x8 garage doors.

I plan to dig the footer early spring.

I'm thinking about radiant heat in the concrete floor but havent decided yet.

Thanks for a great forum and all the info!

SP: can you post up a few pictures of the site and maybe some members might give some helpful tips if they see your thread. also it's a good way to learn how to post pictures which it looks like you will need a lot of in a garage/shop build thread.

by the way i just read that one of our members has to leave a fan on 24/7 because he lives where a lot of moisture comes in on his heated garage floor and the humidty is high. my neighbor has a pellet stove and it's always toasty in his 20 foot high 24 x 24. gas heaters work great too if you have gas available.

welcome to our forum

Welcome from another PA guy!
I pass through on Route 83 a few times a year, although I have never gotten off the highway there.
One day when I have extra time I'd like to stop at Gander Mountain. I've never been to one of their retail sites.
When my kids were small they used to look forward to seeing the York Barbell man spinning around on their sign.

Enjoy building the garage!

Thanks everyone. That is a good idea to post pics of the site. I'll have to do that.

Hey,

Welcome to the site. Perhaps your floor will not get that cold as your going to be digging it into a small hill? A lot of on grade slab shops floors get really cold as all four sides are above the grade and exposed to the cold. Check around with others who have done similar see what their real world exp is . You may want to look at propane radiant heating hanging from the ceiling , I have had / have floor level heating kerosene and elect etc in my larger shop it is a pain maneuvering around it some times.
