Hello ... my name is Stan ... and I'm a garageaholic!

My fiancee and I are in the process of relocating to PA and the property we bought finally has a starter shop that we've always wanted. It came with a huge house for us, but that was a small price to pay for the shop space. After living in CT for 3 years without a garage, I'm suffering from car and wrenching withdrawal. At least I had remodeling projects to keep me busy. Now I have some space to get the toys home and under one roof.

I'll be making quite a few upgrades to the shop this year, starting with the floor. Our housewarming present from my parents was getting the floor in the shop finished. Even though I won't be doing the concrete pour myself, I'll probably start a build thread since I'll be doing the rest of the finishing work. I just thought that a 30x40 floor 6" thick would be a little much for my first pour!

Thanks for all the ideas that I've already seen lurking over the past couple of days. I'll be sure to steal a few and maybe along the way I can contribute a few as well.

Iceman: good luck with the shop and yes i agree to have a pro pour your floor if it's that big. I've poured hundreds of feet of sidewalk and footings for walls and a few pads and i'm still probably going to have a pro remove our old driveway and pour a new one and it's only a 20 x 30.

welcome to our forum and you have a lot of reading to do if you want to learn and if you think can add to the discussion with what you know please do. also asking questions is how most of us learn so if you do a search and can't find the answer maybe find a thread that is talking about that subject and ask and we are very helpful most of the time.
