Makes me feel a lot better for buying a Multimatic 215 for over $2000 less. No way AC TIG is worth that much more.

Yeah I was pretty unimpressed by that price.

Noticed the 252 is up to like $3500 now too. I payed just over 2k for mine. Its getting pretty stupid now.

The 252 being 3500 makes the Hobart 230 even more of a deal. I would have to put the Hob on my short list if I was looking for a new full chassis machine.

That $3500 figure is probably in Canadian dollars. MSRP in US dollars is $2729 on Miller's site. There is also a $300 rebate right now. I do agree it is silly how much they are still charging for a machine they've made for ~10 years now.

The other thing I find interesting is that you can definitely tell Hobart and Miller are owned by the same company - the Hobart 230 specs fit perfectly between the Miller 212 and 252.

It is. Miller stuff is almost identically priced in Canada as it is in the US when you take into account the exchange rate. $3500 CDN is $2675 in USD right now.
$3800 CDN is $2900 in USD.

I thought sumptin was funnie. Last I knew they were 2500 or so. The IM230 was 1500 maybe. If I wanted an 035/c25 unit that took a full spool I would consider it and its simple as dirt.

Yeah those were CAD. Sorry. And were also getting the $300 off that $3500, so around $3200 CAD + 15% Tax = $3680 out the door..

My comment was more about just how much the cost of these things has risen in the last 5-6ish years Ive had mine. Even the Lincoln MP210 (complete tig kit) is like $2850 before rebates.

And the price of steel gone way up too:shocking: Just bought 4- 8' pieces of 1.5, 2, 2.5 & 3" flatbar to refill my shop supplies, and that cost $66.91:lol_hitti Cant afford to build anything these days.

With the TIG kit it was under $1850 Canadian?
Sadly no...but it was $1700 CAD and I got a $200 rebate on it, so was only $1500. I got quoted $520 for the tig kit at the time, so let's call it $2020 vs $3850...still not worth $1830 for AC TIG.
