First Look Here: http://toolguyd.com/new-milwaukee-premium-46-tool-storage-combo-is-bigger-better/

I liked it. It's deeper, and some aspects were upgraded (handle pulls, side handle, casters). New mounting holes on the side for included and in-development accessories (unless I understood the PM wrong).

I was told price would be upwards of $1000, and then was told it would be just at $1000, so I'm guessing $998 until I learn differently.

I was also told that sales of bottoms w/o tops was a lot different than historical estimates and trends.

That drawer layout...ugh.

I can't wrap my head around dropping $1,000 for one of those, that's into nice used tool truck box money in a lot of areas. But, I'm guessing they will sell pretty good. The Milwaukee brand has a ******** following. And for a lot of people not aware that will probably be about the biggest and best box they've ever seen.

Can you elaborate on your last sentence?
It means that GJers and others are buying more bottom boxes than predicted via historical data. Meaning there might be less top chests produced and sold. Maybe less overstock after holiday seasons?

I'm not quite sure how to interpret that random factoid.

It's a lot of box for not a lot of money (relatively), compared to most if not all of the other options in anywhere near its price range.

I know what you mean about the drawer layout. Why is it so hard for toolbox manufacturers to make a full width 4 1/2 to 5 inch deep drawer for sockets?

I just bought the 30" to replace my old Craftsman. It sits in a 32" gap between cabinets which makes the power strip barely usable. Wish they had mounted it in the upper section.
Also had to replace the fixed castors with swivels to move it in and out of its nest.
Quite happy with it so far.

Now if they would just come out with a Snap-on style "power cab" to store all these damn cordless tools I keep buying from them.

What's the height of the full length drawers?
I'm sorry, I didn't have time to find a tape measure to get the heights.

If I had to guess, I'd think 2" and 4". The bottom drawer seemed deeper than 3".

Also, sorry - I thought I embedded an image in the top post, but I'm not seeing it. Embedding it here.

That new 46" Milwaukee box looks awesome! I bought one of the 60" Mobile Tool Cart of theirs and have been nothing but impressed. I want to buy the new 46" and mate it up with my 60"....that would be a nice combo!

I researched tool boxes for years while I was saving up to buy one. I was discouraged for a while, because it seemed like the only choices I had were to either over-pay for a flimsy thin-metaled box....OR....Pay $1500 for a Homak H2 or try to find a steal on a used Snap-On or Mac. After laying my hands on the Milwaukee boxes and seeing the price tag....I bought it immediately. IMHO, I think the Milwaukee boxes are the best toolbox for the money.

Stuey.....did they mention any plans or intent to possibly make any type of side-cabinet or side-lockers in the future? Similar to how some of the other box makers do it? It would be a nice option to purchase this new 46" and then add a side cabinet later....as long as it doesn't clash wit the the bottle opener!

I just read a review on the new box and the author stated that Milwaukee claims they will be releasing many new items/add on features for the new boxes. That is the reason they have so many holes in the side apparently.

Edit: found it

Another thing you should notice is that there are more accessories on the side – general purpose hooks mounted towards the top, and more mounting holes.

I’m told that more accessories are on the way, and cannot even guess what’s coming.

I don't think this is something they're working on, based on demand and economical considerations.

I mentioned wanting to see even higher end storage solutions, and gave Proto as an example. (Proto 550S Tool Storage Cabinet is Freakin’ Amazing (34″, 8-Drawers) )

I threw other wishes out there, and also mentioned the GJ forum as a research source.

If you ask loudly enough, they might hear you. If enough people ask, they might listen.

Yup!

I really don't know what they meant by "accessories," but I'm very eager to find out.

The first 46 box was 698 on sale for 598, cant imagine this one is worth extra 300.

Who wants screw on accessories, thinking about paper towel holder, glove box, etc. The magnetic HF ones are good.

Actually people bought tops only, not just bottom only people. I find bottoms without tops in store all the time.

I am in need of a 30" box, it can't be any wider for where I need it to go. I have a Kobalt 27" with no top currently as an overflow box, but since I have joined GJ it is too full to keep anything organized. The only 30" box I have seen is the Milwaukee. Do you feel its work $450. I wish I was able to squeeze in a Husky 36" but it would block access to shelves.

I really don't care for the chrome trim on the drawers. I prefer the look of their workbenches with just the black/red color scheme.

I saw the Husky 36" yesterday. Marked down $100 plus I had a $25 off $200. Fought the urge on it. Ive got the space, just cant justify it right now since theres nothing wrong with what I have (though the Husky would be better organization wise).

At that price I am thinking about modifying the shelf in the way to squeeze in that 36" box. :D

Not yet, though my HD did just seem to get a huge influx on all of their chests and cabinets. Maybe the new one will force the old ones price down. That would make for a hard to pass up deal if the price was right.

I have had the 46'' top and bottom for 2 or 3 years now and it has been great for my home shop. I have e-mailed Milwaukee a couple of times asking when they will make a side box but they had no plans to at the time. I do not think that this box will be $1000.00 but I guess we will see. They are great boxes for the money and seem to hold up well. It's certainly not a Snap-on or Matco but certainly not the price either. The only thing I am not thrilled with is the Matte finish but that is just my personal preference. Looking forward to see what accessories will be out.
