Has anyone tried the new milwaukee channellock type pliers? They have the quick adjust button similar to Knipex, but wondering how the quality is and how they hold up.

Unfortunately all that red-handle stuff seems to be 100% China (vs the old red & black which was Taiwan but surprisingly short-lived in stores), so that'll draw a lot of rabble rabble rabble from the board.

I've not handled the pliers but willing to give them a shot as Milwaukee seems to maintain tighter quality controls on their Chinese manufacturers than some.

I thought these were Taiwan also. They look decent that's why I'm curious. And I like how the ends are bare already so I wouldn't hand to cut off the grips on brand new Knipex Lol.

I think I might go today and check them out. If they are good I'll grab two pairs for sure.

They are alright. A little bulkier than knipex. Not quite as grippy either but the adjustment is nice. I believe the pair I have may Taiwan. They were purchased over a year ago but are pretty much the same.

Do you think the Knipex is worth the extra money? I also read the the teeth on the Knipex are angled so you couldn't use them backwards if you needed to. Are these the same way?

For me the knipex are worth it, no question. The teeth on the Milwaukees are angled as well. There aren't too many situations where it would be a problem. It would have to be extremely tight quarters where you could only hold the pliers one way and an extremely tight fastener \ pipe for the opposite angle to not be able to grip.

You can get a two pack of knipex cobras, I think 6 and 10 inch, rebranded Craftsman, for just over $40. Takes a little of the sting out of the knipex price.

I went and looked at them and they didn't seem bad, hard to tell without getting them out of the package. But I went with the Knipex because they were only $9 more. On sale for $26 at Menard's, so not too bad!

So, yes, these are Taiwan. The wife got me the 12" (10" is linked in post #1) for my birthday. They seem nice, but I've not handled the Knipex. This is the kind of tool I won't use often but still need to have a good pair around for once in awhile.

They look stupid. Big pliers with the grippy teeth in a small opening with the rest of them flat towards the back.
