I just had a two head Daikin ductless system installed.
I am only in my shop 2 to 3 days a week, would it be better to turn the system off? or turn it down to a lower temp while not in the shop.
Thanks,
Jerry

If you enjoy rusting metal and slow warmups you will save money by turning off the split. Personally one of my prime objectives of having a minisplit was to keep everything in the garage rust free. Another point, it costs very little to run a min split If you setback the thermostat on off hours. From a reasonable setback temperature it does not take long to warm up the shop with a decent minisplit.

Leave it on and turned down. I set mine in frost mode when I am not going to be in the shop for a couple days, it bounces between 40-50F and keeps the humidity much lower than not running it. And costs very little to run like that.

I 've always felt that that is what we have thermostats for. I had a boss who would insist on turning off our retail showroom heater in the evening and weekends. He would then turn it on in the morning to bring it back up to reasonable temperature. Never made sense to me.

Air is easy to heat its the mass that is hard to bring it back up to temp. Summer air is easy humidity is hard. Heat pumps don't like to be set back more than a few degrees.

Thanks for all the replies.
I'll leave it on. I don't have it set very high to begin with. I am comfortable at 65F and just a second shirt at 60F.
Thanks again.
