New Mitsubishi/Trane mini split failed after 4 months. Total garbage.

I'm also going to say that this was an improper installation for some reason or another. You might spend some researching mini-split installs as a means of what when wrong and why and go from there. Btw, 40 degrees is not at all very low to many of us living in the north.

sounds like the thread is becoming a gripe session but i haven't read how the issue has been resolved, if it has been.

They can leak as they work at high pressures ..... there was some bad tubing out there as well.

Agree the fittings are a weak point and IMO -- that's install -- the flare should be ditched.
There is a simple go/no go gauge which is seldom mentioned. The ready made lineset flair nuts are too light, flares often fail the gauge test and people refuse to use a torque wrench and slop Nylog on the fitting. Yes the flairs are mickey mouse.

I have a set of torque wrenches for my installs. but i also limit the flares and use a pro press

Actually, I simply adapted my comment to your initial post. I guess the taste of your own medicine wasn’t so nice.

I have a tendency to get irritated when I see people join a forum only to randomly complain about stuff that makes no sense to me. I didn’t mean to offend you.

Btw, « nailing it » must be quite easy considering it says « Quebec » in my location. 😉

Good evening to you.

"A taste of my own medicine"? I complained about a product failure and a lack of parts availability. You went after me personally and my installer.

I'm sorry, I didn't know I was joining a gang. Is there some sort of initiation I have to pass first before I'm allowed to have an opinion?
This is not a gang. Stating an 'opinion' is one thing. Stating baseless, knowledgeable, and senseless comments as you have are not welcome in here.

The tone of your message influenced mine, that is all. I don’t see when I went after you, but as I said, I didn’t mean to offend/upset you and I apologize for that.

About your installer, well, it simply doesn’t look good…

Actually, there have been a couple of competent suggestions made about thawing the outside unit and verifying the presence of a heated bed. Also suggestions that the installer cannibalize an in-stock unit. The OP does not seem to be interested.
Oh yes, there has been many competent suggestions here. However you need some kind of common sense and knowledge to us these suggestions  OP has no interests to learn either of those things

It seems to me the OP didn't come here for help, he came just to complain. As for not being able to find a pan heater I would have bought some heat tape and made one and been on to something else, like polishing my screwdriver collection.
