So I've got a question for you fellers, yesterday/last night since assembling the DP-600 there's been no problems with it. Clearances, everything was working like it should. An hour ago I went to mount the table and actually drill something for the first time. I discovered the quill felt bound up. With enough pressure I could lower it but as it was going down you could see the stop rod sort of twist a bit. Let off on the pressure and it went back to normal.
So I proceeded to remove the spring and quill pinion, trying to pull the quill downward and out resulted in a great big nothing. It wouldn't budge. I had to tap a flathead into the `clamp crack` at the front of the head to relieve the tension so it'd slide out.
Now what's odd is that this guy has two bolts that mount up there just like you;d see in a clamp. Yet the big one is not even in there and the smaller one the nut is loose.. not tightened at all. Numbers 38 and 40 on this parts list: http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/1141/5838.pdf
So anyway I removed the quill and there are no marks on it like you'd expect if say something have fallen down in there and was scratching against the quills outer surface. I'm guessing I should make up a little spacer to wedge into there so that this doesn't happen again.. but it bothers me because literally nothing changed overnight but yet it clamped down and wouldn't let go.
