Hello!
I belong to a few forums, including Detailing Forums, as well as El Camino Central (have a well-preserved '87 Camino as my fair-weather driver), and occasionally find links to this forum, so I decided to check it out and join in.
A little bit of bio; I've been a gearhead since birth, as I grew up as the son of a flat-rate mechanic with his own weekend garage. I was wiping tools and cleaning parts since I was a little kid. Been doing all the work on my own cars that can be done without a hoist or a scanner. I started in the late 70's buying tools off the trucks, mostly Snap-On, with some Cornwell and Mac tossed in. When my Dad passed in '94, I added some of his stuff to my tool collection, so there's a bunch of 50's stuff among my 70's-80's tools. Still picking up my cars with a 70's era 2-ton Lincoln Floor Jack that's twice as heavy as what they sell as a 2 ton today.
Anyway, thanks for the addition and I hope to learn something here, as well as passing along some of my knowledge. Looks like a friendly place to hang out.
