I came across this old fluorescent it was broken, bent and rusty. found I little information about it on the net, it is a Day-Brite. Built back in the late 40's and 50's. cleaned it up, converted to T8, new tombstone, ballast, lens, and paint.

Used in many schools over the years. I remember when the elementary school I attended in Iowa went from the milk colored incandescent lights, to the fluorescent type.

I can remember lights similar to that. A lot of style then...now...just a piece of metal on the top, sometimes. Looks good.

thanks, for the comments, a friend of mine had it hanging in his basement. one night I asked if he ever wanted to get rid of it I would be interested. well the next weekend he went out and bought a new Menards fixture and called me and said I could have the old piece of **** light. it work out good. I might have him over for a beer and see if he recognizes the old piece of ****.

I absolutely hate changing bulbs or ballasts in those SOBs. Especially when you have an entire room fitted with them. They still make a similar setup and they are just as annoying to work with, just made a lot flimsier. Nonetheless good job!
