I am sure this has been covered before, but it did not come up on my search.

Basically, I bought a Craftsman 3/8 drive impact gun at a garage sale, and it is old model, but appears to be unused. I went home and connected it to the air line, it didn't move; dumped a lot of oil from both the air inlet and hex oil fill hole on the side near the trigger (I assume that is for oil), but still no good. Anyway have any advise? The Oil flew out from the vent when I pull the trigger but the wrench is not moving.

Thanks in advance.

Tap it with a plastic hammer while holding down the trigger. May be just stuck from sitting

Is air flowing thru the gun? Do you here it exhausting? I wonder if the o-rings on the spool valve are cracked/dried out. Can you rotate the drive end, is it free?

Air flows thru fine which blows the oil from the vent. I heard exhausting as normal. I can rotate the drive end, but not freely. It will free spin but stops and go again.

I would suspect that the vanes are stuck in the rotor. Open the back and take a look. If put away wet then it could be some rust. Clean the vanes and make sure that they slide freely on the rotor, oil them a bit and reassemble.
