Hello all,
Tom C. here. I have been non-member viewing this forum for a while as I add some more tools to my world. I got my first toolbox from my dad in the 60's from my dad. Still have them. Craftsman. So I always stuck with them, as they helped me do normal mechanicing through my life - mostly motorcycles, tractors, basic car work, general ops.
I'm a believer in the "right tool" philosophy and that extends from hand tools, to the right specialty wrenches/pullers/punchs/chisels to the right power tools to the right welders to the right machines (and on into most everything else). Its a simple philosophy, though gets expensive, depending on my definition of right.
So that's why I'm here. I bought some craftsmen hex bit sockets several years ago, then ended up sensing I was going to strip the heads of some tough bolts. Turned out the Craftsmen hex bits were a few thou smaller than they should be. That made me think maybe Craftsman weren't the same as they used to be. So I started looking around at other tool mfgs for my next and future hand tool needs.
A lot of what I'm doing is just duplicating hand tools to get them where I need them instead of toting around a couple tool boxes. So I am watching for good quality used stuff and peoples recommendations for new stuff.
Pleasure to be here.
