Concrete being poured today in my 24x24 pole barn. Very excited!

I'm told the guys doing the work put a very nice finish on the concrete (fairly smooth). What i'm after now is instruction on what sort of sealer to use to keep oil, etc from staining. also want easy sweeping clean up of dirt, etc.

Garage will be used to store a vehicle and for all manner of projects from oil changes to brake line work to wood working projects.

I don't want to risk epoxy coming up and really like a bare concrete look. LOVE the floors you see in retail stores but understand that those are polished and burnished which isn't suitable or cheap to do for my simple use.

So, what product and when do I apply it?

Thanks!

Hi
Check out our SPGX Clear coating. Its virtually impervious to all common fluids, and low cost about 35 cents/sq ft. See photo for recently installed job in a large fire house. They tested numerous coatings before selecting the SPGX.

Great post. We have several different products that would be options for you.

If you want basic densification and protection you can use a product like TL39. No aesthetic value. It will protect the concrete from basic spills, weather. Spray it on with a garden sprayer and you are done. http://www.garageflooringllc.com/concrete-densifier/

Second option is to do a true system for oil protection. No aesthetic value. You would do TL37 densifier (same page as above) plus Ghost Shield 8505 http://www.garageflooringllc.com/siloxa-tek-8505-concrete-sealer/ Unlike most sealants, it is specifically designed to repel oil and protect against oil stains and they have considerable testing to back that up.

A really nice option is TLPPC. It is a penetrating concrete sealer that has a low percentage of urethane in it. It is non yellowing and highly chemical resistant. We post the chemical resistance in the tabs at the bottom of the page. Again, just apply multiple coats (I like 3) with a garden sprayer. The difference here is it give you a luster or gloss BUT it penetrates deep into the concrete. http://www.garageflooringllc.com/tl...le-interior-exterior-concrete-sealer-coating/

So the floor was power troweled. Looks awesome.

But I understand that can change the process.

Whatever you ultimately go with. Make sure it has the looks you want (obviously) but make sure you go over with the distributor / manufacturer what chemicals and solvents it will be exposed to and make sure the product is compatible with that.

Using my own product as an example. I could sell you a WB acrylic that would look AWESOME on day one but it would never put up with what you are looking to do
