Maybe it is not possible on here but I have seen a function on another forum which makes it easy to find new posts in a thread.
If a thread has new posts since last visited or board has been marked as read there is a "new" button at the start of that thread. By clicking this button you are taken straight to where you had last read to or in other words straight to the first new reply to be found.
This function makes keeping up with threads so much easier as one doesn't have to wade through posts trying to find where they were up, particularly if the thread has now changed pages.
