My neighbor and I built this bar over the past week. The whole assembly went together in a day but the finishing touches have been added over the week.

Except for a few electrical items and the cooler the bar was made from items we already had.

and lastly, the ultimate score , vintage pre-WWII storefront Coca-Cola cooler, untouched and unrestored. The ice is still ice and very cold this morning from our 4th of July party.

You can't see it in these pictures but this is right across from our ponds and fire pit, makes for a very out of surburbia feeling.

The bar top glows red at night now instead of white and matches the hanging lights well.

Nice!!! Just curious, did you seal the open ends of those tree sections with anything? Any more contruction pics of the middle section or the bar top? Love the effect! Very cool.

The middle section of the bar top is a piece of 1/2" thick glass from a retail store display, its frosted on the bottom and sits in a channel that was dado'ed out of the 4x4's.

Nothing has been sealed yep but yes the cut ends of the "stumps" will be coated.

That is a great job.
As mentioned about sealing the ends, I would also ask do you have issues with carpenter ants? They may start to nest in the logs if the bottoms are not done as well or you could incase the bottoms in some cement.

That is way cool. I love outdoor projects like that but down here in Texas its so blasted hot that I dont want to get out of the AC during the daylight hours. SO... I'll live vicariously through you all until the temp drops to a bearable level. Good work and show us some more!

Glad to see the world has not run out of red necks yet:thumbup:

I would have to assume that's insulting. It's actually part of an entire up north, cabin theme in the backyard. I live in the middle of a fairly well to do city and try to have a northern retreat on the backyard to go to - that doesn't necessarily make me a redneck.

I don't know if people that aren't from the D understand what up-north is all about.

BTW I'm also sick of it being ok to insult any white man as redneck.
