Just picked this up. I’ve found pictures online but none say who makes it. Anyone know?

Japanese, Taiwanese, or Chicom depending on when made. I have one similar made in Japan which I bought from Western Auto in IIRC '82 or '83. Outside chance it's Indian.
Hey, if it works well enough for you, fine (if not 'dandy'). What I found out from that Jap vise is: no matter what the COO is, I want a positively locking swivel for any sort of heavy duty use.

Few years back got a Wilton 4500 http://www.wiltontools.com/us/en/view-series/reversible-mechanics-vises/RevMechVise
This Chicom vise has a swivel that locks ('gear teeth') and is sold under several brands. Not 'top quality' per se, but certainly not bottom by long shot either. Have used it hard and no problems. Several other members have reported excellent results with theirs even in pro shop use.

If you want pix of a positively locking swivel, look here: https://www.kentool.com/index.php/products/vises/professional-workshop-vises-detail
Ken-Tool also has reversible vises.

As long as you don't have to pull really hard side to side, yours will probably do well for you, unless you need more capacity as with the reversible.
When I joined this board several years ago, all of a sudden I needed so many tools/better tools. Now poorer but wiser, I realize some of those I'm glad I got and some just not worth it for me.

Use your vise and learn what you like and don't like. Upgrade later if you need to.

I just thought it looked kinda cool and old. I have a Yost 33C for anything heavy duty. And when it come the the Japanese and steel, hate to say but I take theirs over all any day. Any pocket or kitchen knife I buy is always Japanese steel. They’ve been perfecting it forever. Thanks for the input.
