Hi everyone, last weekend I bought an used snap on road chest kra6200f and I really love the box it's gonna go in my service truck at work. Since then I feel like I have an obsession with this style toolboxes. I found a YouTube video showing proto's new road box and I was wondering if anyone on here has one.

I think I would like one to put in my personnel truck to do some work on the side.

Really? I was not aware mac offered a road box, thank you ill have to look into that. I would buy a second snap on but that thing is expensive, I scored the one I have now in new condition for $700.

Mac has a normal style road box they offered for years and this new one. I looked into buying the Mac box, but got a good deal on a like new IRA 62c instead.

Does anyone have the drawer dimensions on this box?

yeah maybe but I really wanted the proto because of some of its features. The drop front lid in particular and its outside dimensions, still looking for those drawer dimensions though.

Don't quote me on this, but IIRC the proto box is ~22" deep x 26" wide inside drawers. You can get them for right under $2K. Saw one in person back when they came out.

What did you think of them when you saw it in person?

I took the Proto Part Number off the Proto page J463423-5RD-RB and a quick google search showed it available from a couple of different places for $1900-2050 and one place for over $3k

I would like to see in person first though it looks interesting.

Awesome, but expensive for what they are. If they were more in the $1K ish range, much more resonable. Especially considering you can buy a new, full size lista or the like for about the same price.

I am building a job site box and it has the drop front, weather sealing, and security I am looking for. Wish it had more drawers and was a bit bigger but I think it would handle the abuse I am going to throw at it. 2k is spend but it is on zoro so maybe I can catch it on a good sale. Where did you see it? I would love to see it in person before I pulled the trigger?

Pretty sure it was at a fastenall store, maybe grainger, when they first came out they had a display unit I fondled. Knowing what I know now, unless you had to have that size, I'd try to find/fit a smaller vidmar or the like cabinet into your mobile box. Especially if you have the means to seal it yourself. They were discussed before on here to length, I can't remember much about them. I wonder who actually makes it for proto. It is of such a different design. It has a lot of similarities to a vidmar cabinet I have. :dunno:
