New ratchet wrenches?

I'm new to the forum, so I thought I'd give a little background first. I'm a chemical operator in the NW Florida area. In my spare time I work on tractors, atv/utvs, outboard motors, do routine maintenance on vehicles, and dabble with woodworking. I've been checking out the forum for a while, and finally decided to join.
Now on to my question. I'm in the market for a new set of reversible ratchet wrenches, both sae and metric. I was leaning towards the Proto spline set, but that's not set in stone. Yall have any advice, or any other suggestions?

I love the proto splines. Have a full set of SAE and metric, and zero complaints.

With a coupon code to Zoro they are an awesome deal

Here ya go. Gearwrench has a promo on reversible wrenches. Buy the 16 piece set of metrics and get the 13 piece SAE set for free.. It's on sale for like $200 and you get 29 reversible ratcheting wrenches. I bought my gearwrench socket sets from this place and had no issues.. I think they have the wrong wrench description in the details, these are not the flex head set.

Dewalt also has 10 piece metric and sae sets. You can get them off eBay for like $50 -$60 each. For the money they are very nice too..

Thank yall for the suggestions. I know the Protos are more expensive, but I like buying things made in USA. I guess it's kind of a pride thing

I love my Proto black - spline ratchet wrenches.

Even though they're made in Taiwan they are extremely well built.

The crome protos are US made.

It makes me mad that Proto offers larger sizes in the import wrenches than they do in the USA made ones.

If you don't mind spending the money the snap-on FD+ reversibles are nice and made in the USA

I am sure made in the USA are the best and for those who are serious mechanics the cost is justifiable. But for my purposes I go with good Taiwan made DeWalt reversible ratcheting wrenches.

I don't consider made in China (GearWrench, Craftsman, etc.). They are bulky, heavier, and ratcheting is not as smooth...not to mention weaker/more likely to fail.

Zoro is good people. If you ever have a problem they help....unlike the various depots, bend over centers etc.

If I didn't already have a few cheap smaller sets of ratcheting wrenches - I would have definitely bought the Gearwrench deal I posted..

29 wrenches for $200, so $7 a wrench for reversible sets.. I have some older non reversible gearwrench, husky, channellock, Pittsburg and the dewalts.. Kept buying small sets on sale and on clearance. The dewalts are the nicest I have, I I got them for $39 a set, but the gearwrench deal is the best if you can part with the money.

Have a look at the Facom 467 ratcheting set with reversible lever, I have a set and I Love them, great feel for ergonomic and I prefer the satin finish to the high polish chrome as that gets scratched easy and looks terrible after some use.

Blue Point markets a really nice set of reversible ratchet wrenches. COO Taiwan last I saw. I started with their double box SAE set and when I opened them up to lube them I found a mechanism identicle to a Snap On Dual 80. Case IH tools sells the same wrenches in sets of 8 for $140. Right now SO is having a sale on the BP combination wrench sets, buy the metric 12 piece set for $270 and get the 8 piece SAE set. Not cheap but they can be disassembled to clean and lube and have a great mechanism.

If I was in the market, I'd look at SK or Proto. While my old gearwrenches are good, recent warranty replacements show a drop off in quailty. I see I deleted a photo showing a 10 year old 8 mm compared to a new one. The new one having insane lobster claw.

No one has mentioned Armstrong ratcheting wrenches. I bought several to fill in missing sizes and they are excellent and USA made to boot.
