Well as if my hands aren't already full enough with the piles of vises that need to be restored, i went ahead and went off the deep end with this purchase!

I've been looking for a decent quality (not China) yet fair priced (cheap as dirt) drill press to restore. Sadly, drill presses that fit those criteria don't show up too often. They don't seem entirely complicated and any ape with a deft touch, like myself, should be able to take it apart, clean/polish/paint/repair and reassemble it again without any spare parts:D

After many months of searching, this is what i found. My friend had to convince me to take it since i had other plans that day and gaining a hernia wasn't on the to do list.

It was marked at 500.00 but since they said "everything has to go today" i was able to make a deal happen for the low sum of 110.00:rocker:

If anybody has any leads on where to buy some replacement water transfer decals, please show me the way. I would like to repaint the belt cover since it needs to be repaired but i could work around it if i had to.

if you haven't checked out the vintage machinery site, plenty of great info probably should be able to even download original owners manual with part list from that site

as far as parts, i would go through and see what parts you need or want and check the classifieds on the link above, or ebay, & swap meets

Killer old drill press, you should have no problems restoring that! Last year when I was restoring a delta dp, member thundermug made a water transfer decal for me, price was great and it was fast. You may want to try and contact him. :dunno:
That said, I recently picked up some water transfer decal paper but have yet to try it out. I have lots of things needing decals though so maybe I'll give it a shot soon. Do you have a better pic or high res shot of the logo that you need? Maybe from some literature or the internet, just a more clear pic of what you need?

That's a nice and heavy drill press. Try calling Buffalo. They'll be able to give more information about that drill press.

I was going to give Thundermug a call and see what he could do for me. I don't have a close up of the belt cover decal since its with a friend, being repaired at his shop. He's much better at repairing aluminum then myself so ill take a pic when i get it back.

Nice find, or perhaps more accurately, glad it found you. My best finds have rarely occurred when I had time and space in the truck. Definitely check out the OWWM.ORG website if you haven't already.

Very nice drill press. Should be a real workhorse when cleaned up. What motor is on it?

$500? Great deal at $110 though.

I know this is a few months old, but any updates? Also I am thinking about getting a circa 1940's benchtop model 15 (1/2" capacity vs. the 1" on the 18), it's a cool looking drill press and around $100 from an estate sale, but no idea of working condition and wondering what you found when pulling yours apart.
