new roof/siding estimates

Hey guys hoping I could get some insight on pricing of a new roof/sides for my 24x40 garage.

Currently the building has T1-11 and asphalt shingles both in rough shape. The roof has started to leak in one spot so I need to get this done.

I've been tossing around the idea of an all metal style or vinyl/shingles.

So far i've had one company come out and gave me two estimates. One for metal the other for vinyl.

To do the whole building in metal, roof/sides it's going to run $15k
Vinyl and shingles were $9k

Is it just me or do those prices sound absurd??

What specifics are you basing your judgement on?

The only way for you or anyone to know what is, and what isn't absurd, is to do a careful takeoff and price all labor and material out including taxes, permits, OH & P.

Then compare this with a number of itemized bids from qualified bidders.

Or take a WAG.
